The Recovery Continues...
Volatile yes - but In the end, it wasn’t all that bad. 2009 saw Australia as the only major economy to have avoided a technical recession, experiencing only one quarter of GDP contraction, thanks to our expanding resources sector and energy-hungry Asian trading partners. Though growth is expected again in 2010, Australia will need to watch out for inflation, a rising currency, and the risk of faltering growth in China.
